Gold sputtering is putting a thin layer of gold on the specimen in order to eliminate charging when studying sample under the scanning electron microscope. Charging causes the image to be distorted visually by a brightness.
Explanation on how the Scanning Electron Microscope works and also for the Energy Dispersive X-Ray Spectroscopy. Houston Electron Microscopy invites you to tour our lab and see our SEM/EDS system in action.
